Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared on the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's presidency. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. She also was frequently together with the President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
